You do not need a referral to see a speech pathologist. However, if you have a chronic cough, voice issue, or breathing problem, it’s important to see a doctor to rule out underlying conditions and to support the diagnosis. In most cases, this means seeing an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist, especially one with expertise in laryngology (voice and airway disorders).
We collaborate with ENTs and other medical professionals to ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective care.
You may be eligible for rebates under Medicare for complex and chronic conditions. If you are unsure if you are eligible, please discuss this with your GP. Once your GP prepares a Chronic Disease Management plan, you will be able claim your rebate through Medicare after your session. Our consultation fees are greater than the Medicare rebate which means there will be out-of-pocket costs to you.
You may be able to claim the cost of your session through your private health insurance, depending on your level of cover and the provider. Please check with your insurer directly to confirm eligibility and how to process your claim, as clients are responsible for making the claim themselves.
Yes, we see most of our clients on telehealth. Telehealth can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy. We tailor our sessions to suit the virtual format, ensuring you still get the same expert support, strategies, and outcomes you’d expect in person.
We travel up to 30 minutes from Melbourne CBD to see clients. We also see clients on telehealth - no travel required!
